3 c. cooked pasta (spiral elbow macaroni or penne) according to packet cooking instructions.
Sauce:
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 med onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
½ c. fresh cream
1 ½ c. fresh milk
½ c. bacon chopped or 150 g. ground meat
1 Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. corn flour
In pan sauté garlic, onion with olive oil and add bacon and fry for a minute or two.
Mix cream, milk, salt, sugar and corn flour and add to pan. Season to taste and set aside.
Topping:
1 c. grated cheddar cheese or a combination of parmesan cheese
¾ c. breadcrumbs
1 tsp. ground sweet paprika or
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
Oil a shallow rectangular ovenproof dish.
Place half the pasta over base of dish and top with half of the sauce mix, then add the remaining pasta and top with the remaining sauce mix. (layer by layer the pasta and sauce).
Sprinkle topping over and bake, uncovered in moderate hot oven for 20 minutes or until hot and topping turned lightly golden brown.
